Tristan Walker

Tristan Walker is Deputy Vice President of Economic and Technology Development at King Abdullah University of Science & Technology (KAUST) in Saudi Arabia. In this role, he leads the University’s efforts in supporting the development and diversification of the Kingdom’s economy through technology transfer and commercialisation, the creation of new technology companies and close partnerships with industry. Tristan also oversees the strategy, development and operations of the KAUST Research & Technology Park.

Tristan joined KAUST in January 2012 as the Director of Budgeting and Planning before becoming Acting Chief Financial Officer and then the Chief of Staff to President Chameau in July 2013.

Prior to KAUST, Tristan worked as the Head of Analysis and Planning for Crossrail, a $30 billion rail infrastructure project in London, UK and the largest infrastructure project in Europe. This work was preceded by leadership roles in finance at Transport for London and Oxfam GB, an international development organisation. Tristan has also launched and managed his own e-commerce and online real estate businesses before joining KAUST.

Tristan received a B.Sc. joint honours degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science and an MBA degree from the Saïd Business School at Oxford University. He also completed the High Potential Leadership Program at Harvard Business School.
